Fred is our principal and is passionate about providing high quality dental care for all patients. Born and raised in Brisbane, Fred has many ties with the local community. Fred has looked after our patients here at Chermside Dental Care since 2012 and is popular with patients for his down to earth nature and painless dental work.

Fred was offered a dentistry position at the University of Queensland with a 5 year UQ Excellence Scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science with Honours from the University of Queensland (2011) with numerous academic awards. Fred has a real love for dental knowledge, and has completed a post-graduate Masters in Clinical Dentistry in Dental Implantology from Griffith University (2015). He is also a current Fellow of the International Dental Implant Association. Fred is also a current fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). Fred has also completed the Comprehensive Orthodontic Course at the International Academy of Advanced Dentistry (2018), the Orthodontic Mini Masters Program at OrthoEd (2022) and is an accredited Invisalign and SomnoMed provider.

In 2019, Fred was accepted into the Australian Dental Association Queensland (ADAQ) Committee Member for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) which he served for 1 year.

Fred is particularly interested in implant dentistry and full mouth rehabilitation.

Outside of patient clinical care, Fred has a keen interest in research. He has completed a thesis literature review on dental implant screw design. Fred’s appetite for on-going learning is insatiable. Currently, Fred has recently completed the comprehensive course in Periodontics over 6 modules with the International Academy of Advanced Dentistry.

Fred likes to give back, and has spent time abroad doing dental charity work. Fred has spent 3 weeks in Cambodia providing dental care to the nation’s most needy children in 2014, 2017 and most recently 2019. This has come to a halt temporarily due to Covid-19, although things are looking promising for this to kick-start again shortly.

Outside of dentistry, Fred enjoys squash, watching documentaries, following tennis and spending time with his family.

Dr Andy Tsai is our resident Endodontist and is a valuable member of the team. Andy is a highly skilled and knowledgeable endodontist who specialises in dental pain diagnosis and treatment through root canal treatment and dental microsurgery. Completing 3 years of specialist doctorate training, Andy is also a published author in the Photodiagnosis and Photodynamic Therapy Journal.

Never missing a beat, Andy is a professional and ethical dentist who prides himself on technical dental excellence, conservative and gentle endodontics.

Here at Chermside Dental Care, Andy has the latest technology to support his endodontic work including a high-def CT xray machine and Zeiss Microscope.

Outside of work, Andy loves to go fishing more than anything in the world.

Dr Gary is the most senior associate dentist at Chermside Dental with over 18 years tenure. Gary is a wealth of dental knowledge and a calming presence at the practice. Moreover, Gary is well known for his sense of humour and gentle touch. To our other dentists, Gary is admired for having excellent clinical hands, achieving beautiful outcomes for his patients.

Over such a long career in Dentistry, its hard to think of something Gary doesn’t do. Experience and quality dental care is what Gary provides for all of his patients. Gary’s skills in the area of aesthetic and cosmetic dentistry is second to none, regularly giving patients beautiful new smiles through veneers and invisalign. Gary has been a past University of Queensland clinical supervisor for dentistry.

Gary also has a keen interest in dental sleep appliances including SomnoMed (platinum provider). Gary also provides sedation dentistry using happy gas for his more anxious patients.

Gary is a dedicated family man, with a lovely wife and two children, spending the majority of his time outside of work with his family.

Tim is one of our long-term, senior dentists at Chermside Dental Care. Known for being both affable and knowledgeable, Tim has been a valued part of our experienced team since 2014.

Tim graduated Dentistry from The University of Queensland in 2010 and offers a broad range of dental treatment including family dental care, cosmetic dentistry, toothache management and surgical tooth removal procedures. He has a loyal following of patients who value his technical excellence, gentle nature and sense of humour.

Outside of work, Tim enjoys spending time with his wife, family and friends as well as playing his weekly game of touch football.

Martin is a valued full-time senior dentist at Chermside Dental Care and has recently made Brisbane his new home with his fiancé Evelyn.

Martin is passionate about providing high quality dental work that is patient focused and is often complemented on his caring nature and compassion. By taking time to listen and discuss their treatment options, patients can feel comfortable knowing they are in control of their dental experience.

Martin completed his Bachelor of Dental Science (2017) at Charles Stuart University in Orange, New South Wales. Martin regularly attends dental courses to ensure he can provide all the modern solutions to your dental needs. More recently, Martin has completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Dental Implants with Cambridge Academy of Dental Implantology.

Since completing university Martin has consistently worked in private practice in both rural and regional New South Wales. Firstly, at Coonamble managing a surgery with his original mentor and friend, specialist prosthodontist Dr. Marko Lo Schiavo providing all general
family dentistry with a particular focus on oral surgery and denture work. Martin then moved to the beautiful Northern Rivers where he practiced general family dentistry with a focus on high quality dental work and oral surgery.

Previous to COVID-19 Martin has enjoyed volunteering overseas to help those in need as a clinical teacher and practitioner for the Timore Leste (Rotary Australia) Dental Program as well as in Vietnam (AVVRG) providing dental care for children.

Outside of dentistry, Martin enjoys cooking, touch football, tennis, traveling, live music, and   most of all spending time with friends and family.

Amy is a valued member of the team for her compassion, bubbly nature and dental proficiency. Amy graduated from the University of QLD in 2010 and has worked many years in private practice. Amy particularly enjoys working with children, and helping their first visits enjoyable and memorable.

Amy’s patients appreciate her for her calming and friendly nature, but also for her attention to their individual needs and concerns. Children’s Dentistry is Amy’s passion. Amy holds a graduate certificate in psychology specialising in early childhood development and anxiety disorders. Amy is also proficient in all fields of dentistry and thoroughly enjoys aesthetic procedures, completing a short course in London on aesthetic dentistry in 2013 (LonDEC). She has considerable experience in tooth removal and helping patients in acute pain, and is particularly adept at removing wisdom teeth.

When Amy is not operating as a dentist, she enjoys teaching kids in music, performing on-stage as well as spending time with her family.

Angela is a gentle, fastidious and well respected member of the Chermside Dental Care team. Angela graduated dentistry from the University of Queensland in 2011. Angela has spent many years working in Roma, Central QLD and has gained significant experience in many areas of dentistry.

Angela has a keen interest in many parts of dentistry including root canals, wisdom teeth and full mouth rehabilitation. Angela is a graduate of both the Progressive Orthodontic Seminars (POS) and the mini-residency in Excellence in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics (EODO). Angela keeps up to date with the latest Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses.

Outside of work, Angela enjoys watersports, skiing and badminton. She is also an excellent pianist and cook.

Albert forms a valued member of our dental team here at Chermside Dental Care.

Albert is a local dentist who works with passion and a smile. He graduated from UQ in 2007 and has served as a dentist in both public hospitals and private clinics, gaining valuable experiences along the way. He believes that careful listening and clear communication is the key to achieving the optimal result. Albert is zealous with his daily dentistry, especially when dealing with dental implants, IV Sedation and wisdom tooth removals. He is well-respected by patients and staff alike for his kind, gentle manner as well as his skill with all things dental.

Outside of the dental space in Chermside, Albert is an intrepid explorer. Albert has been fortunate to combine his love for dentistry and travelling by volunteering in dental projects in India, Cambodia, Guatemala and Nepal. Albert speaks English, Mandarin and basic Spanish.

Bridget completed a Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science and a Masters of Dentistry, graduating with Distinction and awards for academic excellence. She has recently returned to Brisbane after a few years living in Darwin, where she worked in private practice and was an involved member of the dental community as the Australian Dental Association NT Branch Treasurer.

Bridget prides herself on providing gentle, good quality and ethical dentistry. Bridget enjoys all aspect of general dentistry and is especially good with creating a positive dental experience for children and anxious patients. Bridget is an Invisalign provider and enjoys working with patients to achieve optimal dental health.

Bridget’s commitment to her academic pursuits didn’t stop in university. She has published a paper on Oral Cancer with the Australian Dental Journal in 2022, in addition to co-authoring other papers. In addition to this she continues to further her knowledge and skills through study and professional development courses. This ensures she is always up to date with the latest materials and techniques, enabling her to provide the best possible service to her patients. This approach aligns with the philosophy at Chermside Dental Care of providing cutting edge technology and superior care to patients.

Bridget is a believer in making dental care accessible for all and has visited East Timor with the Timor Children’s Foundation to provide dental care to the community in Dili and rural villages.

When not in the dental surgery, Bridget is a keen advocate for work life balance. You will often find her running, hiking, cycling, camping or spending time with friends and family. She is always looking for her next running event!

Julia is a valued senior associate dentist of the Chermside Dental Care team. Julia is well know for her gentle, thorough and conservative approach to patient’s oral health.

Julia is Australian-Chinese and graduated from the University of Queensland with our principal dentist. Julia understands that visiting the dentist can be daunting and endeavours to make your experience a pleasant one. Her special interests include aesthetic reconstruction, temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD), children’s airway and jaw development, and oral surgery including implants. Nonetheless, she enjoys all areas of dentistry and is always happy to help with your concern.

Julia’s ideal weekend will be spent hiking in a national park, trailing behind her towering husband and learning the art of bird-watching.

Min is a gentle and down to earth dentist, who is dedicated in providing dental care of the highest standard to all patients that see him.

Min graduated from Griffith university in 2011 (BDSc), and has worked both in the public and private sectors for many years, and has also supervised dental students at Griffith University.

Min is proficient in many parts of dentistry ranging from root canals, aesthetic dentist and particularly in surgical procedures such as wisdom teeth removal. Min has also completed the Progressive Orthodontic Seminars (POS) and is an accredited provider of Invisalign.

When not at work, Min likes to play social tennis and relaxes whilst playing on the piano.

Dr Edmond is a valued senior dentist at Chermside Dental Care. With over 10 years of clinical experience post-graduation, Edmond is highly regarded for his gentle, caring, meticulous approach to dental care. Edmond has a keen interest in general family dentistry, cosmetic rehabilitative dental work and oral surgery (including wisdom teeth and dental implants).

Outside of dentistry, Edmond loves to spend time cooking, skiing, enjoying a variety of games with friends and spending time with family.

Dr. Rosa Shen is one of our valued, experienced dentists. Rosa graduated from Griffith University, where she received Academic Excellence awards for her completion of both her Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science and Graduate Diploma of Dentistry. Dr. Shen is known for her gentle approach, taking a calm and caring stance toward each patient. Her friendly and approachable demeanor ensures that people feel at ease discussing their concerns with her. Dr. Shen’s passion for dentistry drives her to provide excellent quality care to all her patients. She continuously enhances her knowledge by attending continuing professional development courses. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Shen enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

William is a valued dentist within our team who is known for his easy-going and calming personality. William is well known for his thorough, meticulous and conservative approach to patient’s oral health.

William accomplished his dental education at Griffith University at the Gold Coast. He thrives to deliver exceptional patient-centered care along with the latest up-to-date technology to optimize treatment outcomes.

William offers a broad range of dental treatments including family dental care, toothache management, root canal treatments and cosmetic dentistry.

Outside of work, William loves travelling, playing the piano and spending time with friends and family. William speaks English, Mandarin and Taiwanese.

Originally hailing from Sydney, Cindy made the move to Brisbane to study dentistry at the University of Queensland. After completing her degree with First Class Honours, Cindy has now made sunny Queensland her home.

Cindy has had experience in both the public and private sector where she has gained experience in many areas of dentistry. Having always enjoyed her dental visits as a kid, Cindy now aims to use her skills and knowledge to provide a friendly and enjoyable experience to all her patients akin to her childhood dental visits. She has a passion for all aspects of general and family dentistry and enjoys working long term with patients to achieve a beautiful and healthy smile. To ensure all her patients receive the best possible care, Cindy keeps up to date with all the latest advancements in dental procedures.

Outside of the dental office, Cindy loves food and cooking so you’ll often find her eating or in the kitchen cooking up a storm. She also enjoys playing tennis (not very well), travelling, and spending time with her two fluffy cats.

Dr. Evelyn is a valued dentist here at Chermside Dental and has lived and worked locally for many years. Evelyn graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Dental Sciences degree in 2010 and joined our team in 2017. Evelyn is a member of the Australian Dental Association, regularly attending professional development courses and education seminars to keep up to date with changes in the profession.

Evelyn is highly regarded by both her peers and patients for being very technically capable, achieving great results and being gentle, patient and kind.

Evelyn is passionate about her dentistry and focuses on a holistic approach to patient treatment, with emphasis on preventative dentistry. Evelyn also takes special interest in treating young children. A common goal Evelyn strives to achieve with her patients is to help them maintain healthy smiles for life.

Outside of dentistry, you will find Evelyn spending time with her family and friends.
